I have been back and forth with my support of the Presidential candidates. I've even demonstrated the knee-jerk reactions of support based on media claims.
I've got to be honest with someone...
My intuition tells me to vote for McCain. (my mind tells me that here's a POW who's been thru his hell, experienced his captors caring for him, etc... that's bound to change someone)
When I look at Obama - I cannot get a direct feeling of him. Now, I've had that gift for awhile--so, now I'm wondering after hearing everyone else's opinion of Obama--why is my Intuition telling me (to coin a phrase) "No Obama."
My last look at the candidates made me feel that "he's doing it with smoke and mirrors.! And, maybe even questionable magic.
I thought that I've been on this path long enough, I've trusted my gut feeling long enough--to trust what comes! And, it's telling me to vote for McCain.
On the other hand, almost all of my acquaintences who claim to be on the "enlightened path" have strong verbal support for Obama by referring to his name only.(meaning they offer no discussion as to why)
Maybe I'm missing something...and maybe I'm not.
This isn't a political blog, but I can suggest that the answer may be different for each of us depending on what sort of heroic tale we are looking for our next leader to embark upon.
I feel that the earth needs a community builder and peacemaker not a soldier who endorses the questionable policies of the last 8years, to take the reigns of power at the White House.
Unfortunately, the name of the game in campaigning is smoke and mirrors. All candidates must shape shift into a projection to have a chance of winning. It is aweful and both sides are culpable, but it is the price of stepping into the arena in a climate that is dominated by ruthless competition, and sadly the word "campaign" itself is a military term. The next phase will involve picking up the pieces and working to get things done through cooperation. Again, the Bush legacy leaves much to be desired in that regard, and we need a fresh paradigm. I'm not sure that McCain can provide this. But I do know that you can't make civilians work together by running things the way the armed forces are run. In my view, we need less absolutist and militaristic thinking on this planet, not more. The good thing about the next four years is that they can't get any worse--well, may be they can but this is our chance to turn the corner. I make my choice out of hope not fear.
As for gut instinct, I think intuition can best be complemented by taking a hard look at the positions of the candidate tickets on the issues and making a decision based on your personal values and how they fit with your story and mission.
One thing I would caution against anybody believing is that their lives will somehow be lifted into the heavens if either candidate wins. Leaders have to govern and it is a difficult, high pressure and lonely place to be-filled with compromises and disappointments. Leaders have to deal with the struggle between following the heart, being misled by a disingenous interest group (like the neocons) or being seduced by the thought of pleasing the majority. Inevitably, there will be mistakes and shows of weakness as well as strength and success along either path-but the number of missteps over the last 8 years have been hugely detrimental to the people and our efforts as shamans to heal them. We deserve better.
I hope your heart speaks to you firmly one way or another between now and Tuesday.
As I have pondered the points of this presidential election; it has come to my attention that this will be the 44th president.
Hmmm, 4+4 = 8.
What if it really doesn't matter which face the president will be wearing ?
